First Lady Betty Wilson of Bristol, Florida transitioned to be ever with the Lord on Monday, March 29, 2021 in Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
Sister Wilson is the daughter-in-law of the late Brother Walton Wilson and the late Sister Vera Lee Jackson.
Sister Betty Wilson is the Elect First Lady of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church of Blountstown, Florida, where she is a well-loved woman of faith, serving faithfully at Saint Mary over twenty years. She is the beloved wife of the Reverend Doctor Cecil L. Wilson who is the pastor. First Lady Wilson lived the Word of God and was an unwavering witness for the Lord. Her favorite saying were, “To God be the Glory”, “Praise is What I Do”, and “I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
First Lady Wilson was a multipotentialite. Her loved for children was beyond measure, evidenced by her Christian leadership as President of Vacation Bible School (VBS), Chief Advisor for the Summer Church Camp, Sunday School Songfest Leader, Superintendent of the Youth and Children Division, Membership Orientation Committee Advisor, and the Executive Administrative Assistance to Dr. C.L. Wilson.
She served as President of the Ministers’ and Widows Ministry under the leadership of the Reverend Doctor Marcelious Willis, Jr. who is the Moderator of the New Gulf Coast Missionary Baptist Association, Incorporated, Panama City, Florida.
First Lady Wilson received a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in English. She taught school for 59 years retiring in 2020. She believed that knowledge is power. To know her was to love her.
A time of viewing will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4:00 PM CST to 5:00 PM CST, followed by the Memorial Service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM CST from the sanctuary of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church located at 16345 Southeast River Street, Blountstown, Florida 32424 where the Reverend Doctor C.L. Wilson is the pastor.
Homegoing Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM CST from the sanctuary of the Rivertown Community Church located at 19359 SR 71, Blountstown, Florida 32424 where the Reverend Dustin Malphurs is the pastor. The Reverend Doctor Marcelious Willis, Jr. (Moderator) officiating. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery located at 326 13th Street in Blountstown, Florida 32424.
State and Federal guidance related to social distancing and masks will be followed to protect the health and safety of the family and those who will attend the viewing, memorial service, and Homegoing Celebration service.
She leaves to celebrate a lifetime of fond memories, a loving and devoted family.
She is the wife of the Reverend Doctor C.L. Wilson; and the mother of John Howard, III; Donna Wilson, and Cynthia McKinney
She also leaves to cherish her legacy numerous other relatives and many loving friends.
