Obituary For James McGriff, Sr.
Mr. James McGriff, Sr., of Bascom, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama.
Homegoing Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the sanctuary of New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church located at 5239 Liberty Hill Road in Bascom, Florida.
Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Interment will be in the New Liberty Hill Church Cemetery.
Mr. McGriff will lie in repose at the church from 10:00 AM until time for the service.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Vann Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish a lifetime of fond, yet precious memories, a loving and devoted family:
Two Daughters: Tiffany Oliver of Marianna, Florida and Kia McGriff of Miami, Florida
One Son: James McGriff, Jr. of Miami, Florida
Mother: Odistine McGriff of Bascom, Florida
Three Brothers: Alfred McGriff and Shedrick (Denise) McGriff both of Bascom, Florida and Ronald McGriff of Indiana
One Sister: Linda McGriff of Bascom, Florida
Two Grandchildren: Merrel Brown, Jr. of Miami, Florida and Delfanie Oliver of Conyers, Georgia
One Great Grandchild: Davi Oliver of Conyers, Georgia
And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Dear family. I was truly saddened to hear of James' passing. My husband and I moved to Greenwood in 1999 from New Jersey. I met James and immediately liked him.
