Mrs. Ruth Baker, daughter of the late Joe and Lorine Bell, of Marianna, Florida transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on August 24, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Baker was a member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church located in Marianna, Florida where she served as a deaconess and Mother of the Church. To know her was to love her.
Mrs. Baker is a 1968 graduate of Jackson County Training School. She retired from the Jackson County School District as an educator. She served in various positions while working in the field of education. She was also a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
In 1964, she married the late Deacon George Baker, Sr. She was the owner of Baker’s Children Development Center.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM from the sanctuary of the Second West Florida Missionary Baptist Association located at 4110 Herring Avenue in Marianna, Florida where the Reverend Dwight D. Cockerham, Sr. is the moderator with the Reverend George Bowers, Sr. officiating.
Mrs. Baker will lie in state at the Church from 9:00 AM until time for the service.
Interment will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

Two Granddaughters, Four Grandsons, One Brother, Nine Sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
Sister Loretta it was so hard for me to do this and I can imagine how you all are feeling because I've been there and it is hard but Mrs. Baker was like my mother and grandmother for my boys in which she said was her boys Jaron and Jason please know we loved her more than life and we love you all as well! She was one of the few BEST, give Cookie and the family our love and prayers🙏🏽❤️🌹❣️

I worked with Ruth at CES many years ago and really loved her. She was such a positive person. She was a true lady.
