With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Lauretta Rampersant Thompson, of Johns Island, South Carolina. She passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by love, grace, and the prayers of those who cared for her deeply. Lauretta Rampersant Thompson was the beloved daughter of the late Evelina Qualls Rampersant of Johns Island, SC. She attended Haut Gap High School before relocating to New York, where she worked for over 30 years as a Health Unit Coordinator at New York City Hospital for Joint Diseases. She was the devoted fraternal twin sister of Rev. Berneatha Wilder, sister to Sadie Heyward, and a loving aunt to all her nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Lauretta was a loving and kind woman who knew no stranger. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and treated others with kindness and compassion that reflected the love of Christ. She will be remembered for her warmth, caring spirit, and the unwavering love she gave to her family.
The relatives and friends of Lauretta R. Thompson are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service, 11am, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Ferry Field Missionary Baptist Church, 539 River Road, John's Island, SC. Interment: Bethlehem St James UMC Cemetery, 2419 Bohicket Road, John's Island, SC. Lauretta will lie in state at the church from 10am until the hour of service. Viewing will be held, 3pm until 7pm, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Walker's Mortuary Chapel.

I had the privilege of caring for Mrs. Lauretta Thompson, and during that time, she touched my heart in ways words can't fully express. Her warmth, resilience, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on me. Please accept my deepest condolences. She will be dearly missed.
