Mr. George “Bear” Belton, Jr. passed on Tuesday, August 6, 2025 at MUSC Lancaster in Lancaster, SC.
A Funeral Service Celebrating the life of “Bear” will be held 4 PM Sunday, August 10, 2025 at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls, South Carolina with the Reverend Wytricia Mack- Pastor of Salt of the Earth Ministries delivering the Words of Comfort. Reverend Demarcus Thompson, Pastor. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Heights Cemetery in Great Falls, South Carolina.
A viewing will be held 5-7PM Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, South Carolina.
The family is receiving friends at the home.
Mr. Belton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was born in Chester County, South Carolina on May 12, 1944 to the late Mr. George Belton Sr. and the late Mrs. Maggie Hill Belton.
Confessing his faith at an early age, George became a member of First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls, South Carolina.
George was a retired mechanic for the Chester County School District and Ken Green Chevrolet of Great Falls, South Carolina.
He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Maggie Hall Belton and his father, Mr. George Belton, Sr. ; daughter, Kimberly Belton and two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Davis and Ms. Dorothy Belton, his brother, Mr. Leroy Belton.
George leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Lucille Belton of the home; son, Thomas Watson of Chester, S.C.; his daughter, Shameka Belton Adams (Dandrien Adams) pf Great Falls, South Carolina; his sister, Virginia Lockhart ( Grady Lockhart) of Great Falls, South Carolina; his brother, Larry Belton( Dorothy Belton) of Washington D.C.; his aunt, Mrs. Ruth Hill of Great Falls, South Carolina; three brother-in laws, Garfield Davis, MacKenny Gladden both of Great Falls and Doug Dean of Blackstock, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; many devoted friends and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are entrusted to Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, SC.
