Obituary For Mr. Johnny Edward Dye, Sr.

Mr. Johnny Edward Dye, Sr., a son of the late Reverend James Edward Dye and the late Mrs. Floree McCrorey Dye passed on Monday, April 6, 2026 at his home. He was born June 23, 1961 in Chester County, South Carolina.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, April 12, 2026, at New Life Ministries in Richburg, South Carolina with Reverend James Evans, pastor and officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his son, Johnny, Jr. on Caution Drive in the Mitford Community of Great Falls, South Carolina.

A viewing will be held 12-Noon- 7PM Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, South Carolina.

Johnny, as he was affectionally known accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of New Ministries in Richburg, South Carolina where he served on the Usher Board Ministry and a member of the Men's Praise Team. Johnny was educated in the Chester County School District -Great Falls High School Class of 1979 in Great Falls, South Carolina. He was employed by Havoline Xpress Lube in Lancaster, South Carolina until retiring.

Johnny embraced life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. They made his day and he wouldn't want it any other way. He loved his racing car. Johnny used to spend hours outside working on his car. He used to enjoy taking it to the racetrack in Union, South Carolina. To know him was to love him and he will be missed by all.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend James and Mrs. Floree Dye; his two brothers, Mr. Jessie James McCrorey and Mr. James Robert Dye; his sister, Mrs. Alberta Dye Hill.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, two sons, Mr. Johnny, Jr. (Veronica) Patterson of Winnsboro, South Carolina and Mr. Deontray Dye of Greenville, South Carolina; three daughters, Mrs. Lakiesha (Brian) Young of Great Falls, South Carolina, Ms. Latasha Dye and Ms. Santara Dye both of Winnsboro, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren (his oldest grandson, Que was his best friend and sidekick.) four sisters, Mrs. Gladys (Alonzo) Patterson of Winnsboro, South Carolina; Ms. Mary Ann Dye of Richburg, South Carolina, Mrs. Cathy (Thomas) Sanders and Ms. Angela Yvonne Dye both of Gastonia, North Carolina; his brother in-law, Mr. Roosevelt Hill of Great Falls, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, SC.
