Obituary For Mr. Richard Ray Adams, Sr.

Mr. Richard Ray Adams, Jr was the son of the late Mr. Richard Ray Adams, Sr. and the hate Mrs. Naomi Neal Adams. He was born on November 18, 1995 in Washington D.C. He passed on February 6, 2026 in Bronx, New York.

He was the oldest of two children. He became affectionately known to his family Richard Ray. As he matured, he gave his life to Christ, becoming a member of the Crenshaw Christian Center.

A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held 11:30 AM Sunday at Washington Funeral Home with Reverend Janet Barber Officiating. The family is receiving friends on the morning of the service at 11AM. Burial will be at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Great Falls, South Carolina, Pastor Oscar Moore is the Pastor.

Richard attended the public schools in New York, graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served with honor in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps in 1967.

While in the Marine Corps., he met Mardina Parker , who would change his life forever, They got married and she gave birth to a son, Richard. As Richard Ray moved back to New York, he realized his responsibility as a father and began his journey. Along his journey, he had four more children, a daughter, Madina and three sons, Craig, Paul and Chris.

In 1981, Richard continued to serve his family and his country by accepting a position as a Nursing Assistant with the United States Veteran Affairs. During his tenure, he gained several certifications and took pride in his craft. After winning several commendations and awards, he decided to challenge himself by becoming the President of AFGE Local 1168. While serving the union, he served the people at the VA with pride, honor, and prestige. Richard Ray retired after 28 years of service with the Bronx VA Medical Center.

Richard Ray was not your typical type of Bill Cosby father personality, but he taught and loved his own genuine way. He had his own unique way of loving everyone who was a part of his life. We always knew that no matter how we felt at a particular moment, his intentions were good at hard.

He leaves to cherish his memory, the mother of his children, Mardina Parker; his children, Richard, Mardia, Craig, Paul and Chris; one sister, Patricia (Adams) Bailey; thirteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; an uncle Robert Neal; two aunts, Leola Moore and Margaret Wilkes; one niece, Noni Bailey; a 1974 Volks Wagon Super Beetle; and a host of cousins and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, South Carolina.
