Obituary For Mrs. Lucille Gladden Belton

Mrs. Lucille G. Belton passed on Friday, July 17,2026 at MUSC- Health Columbia Medical Downtown in Columbia, SC.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM Thursday, July 23, 2026, at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls, South Carolina- Reverend Demarcus Thompson is the pastor. Reverend Wytricia Mack is delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Heights Cemetery in Great Falls, South Carolina.

A viewing will be held from 5-7PM Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, S.C.

The family is receiving friends at the home.

A loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Lucille was called to be with her Heavenly Father on July 17, 2026. Lucille was born in Chester County on October 27, 1949. She was a daughter of Reverend Mack Gladden and Mrs. Nettie Bell Watson Gladden.

Lucille joined First Mount Zion Baptist Church where she attended until she became ill. Lucille retired from the Chester County School District.

Lucille was a very friendly lady. She loved sitting on the porch talking to family and friends. She loved riding with her husband and she loved her grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George Belton, Jr.; one daughter, Kimberly Belton; parents, Reverend Mack Gladden and Mrs. Nettie Bell Watson Gladden; five sisters, Mrs. Maggie Means, Mrs. Diane Walls, Mrs. Estelle Coleman, Mrs. Dora Lee Caldwell and Mrs. Gloria Mae Dye; four brothers, Mr. Mack Jr. Gladden, Mr. Roosevelt Gladden. Mr. Isreal Gladden and Mr. Alfred Gladden.

Lucille leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Shameka (Dandrien) Belton Adams of the home; one stepson, Thomas Watson of Chester, South Carolina; two brothers, McKinley Gladden of Great Falls, South Carolina, Doug (Patricia) Dean of Blackstock, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Virginia Ann (Grady) Lockhart of Great Falls, South Carolina; two brother- in-laws, Garfield Davis and Larry (Dorothy) Belton of Great Falls, South Carolina, nine grandkids, 7 great grands and a host of nieces, nephews and other living relatives and friends that will dearly miss her.

Arrangements are entrusted to Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.

We ate holiday dinners with them and spent some unforgettable times, and always felt welcomed in her home. She was tough but she loved with all her heart.
