Ms. Eugenia Tompkins-Young passed on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at her home in Great Falls, SC.
A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held 12 Noon Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Living Word Church 400 West Barr Street Lancaster, S.C. with Mr. Cedrick Cobourne delivering Words of Comfort assisted by Reverend Cookie Washington-Kelly. Mrs. Patricia Murray, Pastor Apostle Wayne Murray.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 2-7PM at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, South Carolina.
The family is receiving friends at the home.
Eugenia Rena Tompkins-Young (Maryam) of Great Falls was born in New York. Eugenia was born to the late Marion (Faatima) Tompkins and the late Eugene (Shakur) Tompkins, Jr.
She obtained her education at Prospect Heights High School of New York. She joined Rock Hill Baptist Church in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Eugenia enjoyed cooking, listening to her music, spending time with her children, grandchildren and her forever love, Tyrone Edmonds., and her dog Anu, which she loved dearly. She was a very peaceful, but open and upfront woman who strongly believed in expressing ger true feelings,
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marion Turner Tompkins and her father, Eugene Tompkins; her sister, Lorraine Turner and her husband, the late Preston Young.
She is survived by he daughters, Jade (Semaj) Gagum, Lamyah (Malcolm) Tompkins, Faatima (Cedrick) Coburne; one stepson, Tavares Robinson; her grandchildren, Rielle, Tristen, Legacy, Khloe, Ava, TJ, Elyon, Kyra, Kimora; her sisters, Sandy (Ivan) Turner, Tammy (Eric) Turner, Pamela Turner and her Spiritual Sister, Sharima Turner; five aunts, Margaret Turner and Johnny Mae Lamar both of Ridgeway, South Carolina, Willarene Tompkins, Geraldine McGee and Lucinda Ortiz of New York; four uncles, Fred Woodard of Ridgeway, Ronald McGee, Michael McGee and Omega Gonzalez of Georgia; a very special friend, Tyrone Edmonds and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls, SC.
