[A Tribute to a Life Well LIVED] Houston L. Taylor
On Thursday, October 15, 2020, OUR gentle, caring & kind-hearted giant of a hero – Houston L. Taylor, GENTLY, slipped away. . .
Houston, fondly known as ‘Boo’, ‘went on’ to join the heavenly jazz and blues choir where his ‘fun- loving’ and endearing Mother, Malinda Ann Taylor preceded him.
Born 60 years ago on September 8, 1960 to Houston and Malinda Ann Taylor, in Franklin, Tennessee. Houston graduated from Franklin High School and attended TSU to pursue a degree in Architecture.
Houston built a 3D graphic and design company from the ground – up, he called CADDworks. As a result of Houston’s innovations in design and blue-printing, quite a few newer structures around the capitol city of Nashville Tennessee were projects he was hired to oversee, completing them all.
Family always came first for Houston and it seemed he never met a stranger. Houston was always available to help anyone at any time. Houston had a high regard for emphasizing: GET your EDUCATION and was quick to reward children with good grades.
Houston volunteered with and made a huge impact in many children’s lives as a mentor and administrator with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle TN. Houston loved sports, especially golf and was an avid Tennessee Titans fan and season ticket holder for many years. He loved to roll-out, travel, ‘CELEBRATE’ with all of his family and friends. Blues and Jazz music were his passion and he loved to go to concerts & collect music.
To carry on and cherish his Memory, are; His Father, Houston Taylor and his Mother [the late Malinda Ann Taylor], his brother, Keith Taylor of St. Louis, MO. His devoted sisters Kim [Phillip] Barber and Karla Taylor.
His loving and dedicated niece, Brandi L. Taylor, that he cared for like a daughter and helped through many milestones and ventured together through her life’s adventures and events.
Nephew[s]; Bobby [Ericka] Drain, iii – he and Bobby had a special bond and he cared for Bobby like a son. Ashley Burrell of Houston, TX and youngest nephew, Dylan Casey.
His dear Uncle, Andrew ‘Uncle Bubba’ [and special Aunt Becky] Patton, who taught him almost everything from how to ‘hook’ and cook fish; to how to handle LIFE, love and adventures.
Uncles; Cleve Taylor and Eddie Taylor. Aunts; Mildred Bond, Ima Jean Franklin, and Tennessee Young.
Fondly cherished cousins, Anita and daughter Jessica, William and Lisa, Kellye O., Our caring family friend/neighbor Mrs. Caroline W., plus many more cousins, grand-nieces & grand-nephews; family, friends, home-boys and buddies too numerous to name;
Houston’s TSU boys who supported him through thick and thin: Tommy Moore, Duck, Mike-Mike, C.L., Al, and others; Plus, his Old School Nashville Boys: especially, his close friend to the end, Jack Patterson; and his tight former friends/neighbors Alfred Sweeney, Steve, and Albert F.
A celebration will be ANNOUNCED in a safer year, 2021 that will include a gathering for ALL to HONOR the Huge impact he made on OUR lives. To send your words of love and support, please go to www.watersfuneralhomeinc.com

Words alone cannot express my heartfelt sympathy for the family & friends of Houston. I count it all joy having been able to spend so many good times with Houston "Boo" in his earlier years.Whether it was a Super Bowl party or a swimming party that my sister hosted, Boo would be there. Always a smile and good clean fun.
Although, I had not seen him in years, I was happy to know that he had started his own business. I will continue to lift up the family in prayer.
"But thou, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the lifter up of my head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill." Psalms. 3:3-4
Keeping you close in prayer.
