Mr. Ronald Manning of Griffin, Georgia entered into rest on May 2, 2025.
Ronald Thomas Manning of Griffin, GA, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, May 2, 2025. He had been enduring a variety of chronic health issues for several years.
Ron was born in Brownsville, PA, in 1932 the son of the late James and Pearl Manning.
In high school, Ron was a standout football player and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2024. After high school, Ron attended Arizona State University before joining the US Army in which he served for 27 years. He retired in 1979. Among his tours of duty, Ron served in Korea and twice in Germany.
Ron was married to Hope A. Manning from 1964 to her death in 1998. Ron married his current wife Rebecca in 1999.
In addition to Rebecca, Ron is survived by son Montell of Decatur, GA; son Michael of Falls Church, VA; daughter Michele and son-in-law Ossie Shelton of Merced, CA; stepdaughters Tosha Parker and Tenisha Brown of GA; brothers James Manning of Meadville, PA, and John Manning, of Erie, PA; and a host of family and friends.
The family will have a private viewing on Thursday, May 8, 2025 and a private graveside service with military honors at Andersonville National Cemetery, Perry, GA, on Friday, May 9, 2025

Rebecca, You have my sincere sympathy in the loss of Ron. He was my friend for many years as he served with my late husband Buck as an usher and Elder. He always made me laugh, even when he kept trying to buy my car away from me. I will miss him and his steadfast faith regardless of his challenges. Melanie Trayser

I am so saddened to hear about your fathers passing. He was such a gentle giant, and I know he meant to world to you all. My heart and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. Ron was a special friend. I always looked forward to a hug at Mount Paran Church on Sunday's. My thoughts and prayers are with Rebecca and family.Heaven got a good one.

I have known Ron for many years through our attendance at Mount Paran. He was a faithful man, always ready to volunteer his time for the church. I will miss him and offer my prayers and condolences to Rebecca and his family.
We sang in the Mount Paran choir for many years with Ron. We were always greeted with that big, beautiful smile of his! He radiated a joyful spirit and he will be greatly missed. Sending prayers of comfort and peace to all who loved him.
Ron and I worked many years as ushers together. He was a true friend.
