WILLIAM THOMAS WOODSON William Thomas Woodson was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was the only child born to parents, P. Benjamin Woodson and Willie Mae Bray- Woodson, who both preceded him in death. William went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2016. William received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School system and West Virginia State College. He was an honorable veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. William later worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years. William T. Woodson and Velma E. Love were married on Feb. 26, 1947. They were married for 69 years. No children were born to this union. William was a faithful servant of the Lord serving on various committees at Centennial United Methodist Church where he was a member for over 90 years. William was a great cook, an avid golfer, and loved to travel. William was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for over 70 years, a member of the NAACP, and was very involved in civil rights causes during the 1950's and 1960's. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Velma E. Woodson, Kansas City; niece, Sylvia D. Love and nephew, Bryan K. Love both of Kansas City; god child, Donna Johnson, West Long Branch, New Jersey; and several great nieces and nephews, and a host of loving and caring special friends.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Centennial United Methodist Church.
Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arr.: Watkins Heritage Chapel, (816) 861-3030.
