Annie Maude Wright was born on March 12, 1945, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to the late Catherine Welborn Bankston and Willie Ed Bankston. On January 8, 2026, God gently called her home at the age of 81, bringing to rest a life marked by faith, dedication, and love for family and community. She transitioned with her son, Kedrin, and daughter-in-law, Katrina, by her side.
Annie Maude joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age, where her faith took root and remained a guiding force throughout her life. She received her early education in Wilkes County and proudly graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School. Known for her strong work ethic and heart for service, Annie Maude dedicated 40 plus years of distinguished service to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital. Through her career, she faithfully served veterans and their families, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Annie Maude was united in holy matrimony to Jimmy Wright, who preceded her in death. To this union, two children were born, Petronia and Kedrin Wright. Together, they built a family rooted in love, strength, and perseverance. She was a devoted mother who cherished her children and took great pride in their accomplishments.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children: Petronia D. Wright of Decatur, Georgia, and Kedrin B. Wright (Katrina Wright, wife) of Ellenwood, Georgia. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kiley L. Wright of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Christian D. Daniel of Decatur, Georgia, who brought her immeasurable joy. Annie Maude is also survived by her beloved two sisters, Katie L. Jackson of Rayle, Georgia, and Brinie Watkins of Athens, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her legacy.
Known for her quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to her family, Annie Maude will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. Her life was a testament to service, perseverance, and unconditional love. Though she has transitioned from this earthly life, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 from the Lyonsville Baptist Church in Rayle, GA at 1pm with Pastor T. Bell, Eulogist.
