Obituary For Barbara Arletha West

Mrs. Barbara Arletha West was born on September 9, 1964. God called her home with him. Monday, February 16, 2026. Barbara was surrounded by family and loved ones who cherished her deeply as she transitioned peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga.

Barbara accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Greensboro, Ga. She was a 1982 graduate of Greene County High School.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Green and her sister Bobbie Lynn Mapp Alexander.

Barbara leaves to cherish her husband: Wayne West of 38 years; two children, Shauna “Pumpkin” West and Travis D. West; three grandchildren, Zaria N. West, Tysjoshaun Q. West and Kazrin D. West; her father: Bobby Lee Mapp, stepmother: Emma Mapp; three brothers: Edward B. Peek (Denise), Manfred (Digna) Mapp and Orlando (Zandra) Mapp; two sisters: Teresa Peek and Tamara Redd (Kelvin); brother-in-law: Argene Alexander; one god-sister, Darlene Oliver. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Special friends: Arlene Brown, Annette Jewel, Grace Terrell and Brenda Sheats.
