Mrs. Catherine Thornton was born on March 24, 1950 to the late John E. and Carrie L. Grimes. Catherine was preceded in death by siblings: Hazel Duke, Christine Thornton, Edward Lamar Grimes, Edward Lee Grimes, Obadiah Grimes, Milton Grimes and Willie Ruth Smith.
Catherine was a home maker, housewife, the world’s best cook and she taught her daughters the same skills. The holidays were the best of all.

She leaves to cherish her memory. Her beloved husband and best friend Ezell Thornton; her children: Gregory Thornton (Alirece) of Athens, Ga., Tony Thornton (Gail) of Union Point, Ga., Michael Thornton (Patricia) of Siloam, Ga., Sharon Thornton (Rodney Jones) of Greensboro, Ga., Katrina McCannon (Joey) of Union Point, Ga., Jennifer Jakes (Reginald) of Greensboro, Ga.; seventeen grand-kids and nine great grandkids; best friends and sisters-in-law Helen Mitchell (Willie) and brother-in-law Jimmie Lee and Ruth Thornton, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
