Deacon George Edward Brown was born on October 31, 1951 in Greene County. He was the second child of four children, born to the late Harley (Hollie) and Bertha Kate (Gresham) Brown.
He graduated from F. T. Corry High School. After graduation his primary goal was to take care of his family. George held several jobs in Greensboro before joining the Greensboro Police Department. Serving was one of his many passions. He also liked fishing and playing softball with the Monarchs.
On April 16, 2024 George was called home to be with our heavenly Father. In addition to his parents, one brother Robert Lee Brown preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife Essie Goss Brown, his brother: Eugene(Wanda) Brown; his sister Melinda of Greensboro; three daughters: Courtney (Christopher) Hunt of Covington, Ga., Cicely (Bert) Merchant of South Carolina and Cheryl Brown of Greensboro, Ga.; two sons: Craig (Erica) Brown and Darron Wright of Greensboro; his aunts: Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Bertha Kate Brown Jackson, and Annie Sue Brown Stocks; one uncle L. M. Brown (Bimmer) a host of grandchildren, great grands and great-great grands; a devoted sister-in-law: Carla Brown; very close friends: Linda Johnson Brown, Angela, Lawanda Gresham and Charlie Worrell. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday April 23, 2024 from Historic Springfield Baptist Church, Greensboro GA at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor W. R. Peete, Officiating.
