Dezmetriuso Kenney was born in Baltimore, Maryland May 12, 1954 to Hassie Marie Perry and D. C. Kenney. After a long illness Kenney departed this life on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. He was the second oldest of 4 children. His sister Rev. Margaret Louise Raynor proceeded in death along with several aunts and uncles.
Early in life he moved to Wedowee, Alabama and attended elementary, middle and high school. He graduated from Randolph County High School in 1972. He was a United States Army Veteran. He later moved to Atlanta, Georgia and attended Georgia State University studying accounting. He worked at Emory University for 4 years. He later worked for MARTA and retired after 30 plus years. He was married to Theresa Cox in 1983 and this union was blessed with two children.
He had a love for fishing, coaching little league baseball, umpiring, and bowling. As a passionate dog lover Kenney (Coot) also considered his pitbulls Sasha and Shadow to be members of his family. He also loved playing a good game of chess with his brother Michael, uncle Ed and his nephew Eddie James.
He leaves to cherish his children: son, Michael Jerome Kenney of College Park, Ga., daughter, Ashley (Kurt) Wilson of Fairburn, Ga, stepdaughter, Tarita Cox of Stone Mountain, Ga.; his grandchildren: Raquel Cox, Rochelle (Justin) Watts, Xavier James, Carter Kenney, Mya Williams, Micah Kenney, Kaleb Wilson, Kairo Wilson, Kash Wilson, and Kaleb Opara; great grandchild: Zane James, his mother Hassie Marie Perry, his sister Pamela Jean Kenney of Charleston SC., his brother Michael Leonardo (Debbie) Kenney of Houston, Texas; aunts: Mildred Medlock, Birmingham Ala, Shirley Zanders, College Park, Ga and an uncle Eddie (Janie)Perry, Birmingham, Ala.; a special niece Teresa Sanders and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
