Dorothy Lee Briscoe affectionately known as ‘Dot” was born in Maxeys, Georgia on November 8th, 1955 to the late Bruce Turner and Leola Allen. She was the second child of four siblings and she departed the earthly plane on July 1, 2026 and was preceded in death by her sister Ella Miller, sister Gail Jones and brother-in-law James Briscoe.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Harmonia Baptist Church and worked as an Usher. She resided in Union Point most of her life. While attending church she ended up meeting and entered into Holy Matrimony with Mr. Robert Lee Briscoe. She graduated from Greene County High School in 1973 and attended Athens Technical College for higher learning and was an active member of the workforce for several factories in the surrounding area.
She leaves her cherished memories to her husband Robert; two sons: Octavus Lamark and Robert Letroy, daughter: Tonya McWhorter, 4 grandchildren: Gisele, Maya, Nathan and Cameron, 4 siblings: Carol Allen, Delene Stanford, Ase McWhorter and Audie Turner (Pearl); sisters-in-law: Gloria Briscoe, Caroline Robbins & Angela Dillard and brothers-in-law: Ronald Miller, Bobby J. Dillard, Mason, Tony, Ray & Willie McCommons and Frederick Saggus; five step-sisters in law: Alma Dillard, Pearlie M. Jacobs, Janet Walter, Inell Fulton, and Lois Dalton and chosen family Charli Allen and Katrina Thomas.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will be reminded of all the moments shared and laughter being made. We consider it a blessing to having her for as long as we did and may her memory never be forgotten.
