Gaynell Thomas Jones was born November 30, 1945 to the late John & Jessie Thomas in Woodville, Georgia.
She joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in the Greene County School System. As a young adult she moved to Newark, New Jersey. Gaynell was employed with and retired from Proll Molding. After retirement she worked as a foster grandparent (she worked with preschoolers). She returned to Georgia in 2022 to be with her family.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents were her siblings: Julia Mae Briscoe, John “Bubba” Thomas, Dorothy Thomas, Martha Jean “Beanie” Briscoe, Patricia Thomas, Roger Thomas and Craig Thomas.
Gaynell transitioned from this earthy journey on July 1, 2026 at her home in Washington surrounded by loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her memories her only child: Yoshe (Darius) Jenkins, grandchildren: Khiry Tutt, Dontai Tutt & Daria (Travaris) Jones; great grandchildren: Averi, Kinsley and Zeke; her sisters Frances (Charles) Clark, Glenda Hall & Debra (Robert) Miller, a special cousin: Leenora Young and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend.
