Helen Bowman passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at approximately 1:40 pm, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81. Born on October 27, 1944, in Crawfordville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sally Kendrick Stewart.
She married the love of her life, Edward "Spencer" Bowman and together they had seven children. She was a devoted mother, sister, and friend. She lived a life defined by love, faith, and a quiet strength. She worked for several years in the textile industry, but her greatest and most cherished role was that of a homemaker. She adored her children and welcomed every child that came to her home. Feeding others brought her extraordinary joy, and no one ever left her home hungry. She was quiet and shy person by nature but never met a stranger. Whether in the grocery store, department store, or hardware store, she found a way to connect with everyone she met. She was a very friendly person and her kindness and gentleness made her unforgettable.
Helen dedicated her life to Jehovah on June 18, 1988, and was never shy about sharing her faith with all who would listen. She found joy in all creation- especially flowers, plants, fruit trees, and animals. A gifted cook, she delighted in preparing meals and sharing them generously with family, friends, and neighbors.
She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed, but her memories we will cherish until the Bible's promise of a resurrection is a reality.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and 14 siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Edward "Spencer" Bowman and children Charles (Gloria) Bowman, of Athens, GA, Peggy (Deleon) Carter of Crawfordville GA, Shirley (Willie) Bailey of Athens, GA, Randy Bowman of Greensboro, GA, Rachel (Doug) Jewell of Athens, GA, Tara (Uriah) Barnes of Thomson, GA and Edward Bowman Jr. (E.J.) of Lexington, GA. Her Sister Annie K. Harrington of Chicago, Illinois, one brother Jerome (Denise) Weaver of Union Point, GA. She has 11 grandchildren, Clinton Joseph Hall III, Chinika Bowman, Shetia Bowman, Charita Bowman, Charles Edward Bowman Jr, Joshua Hall, Randy Bowman Jr, Matthew (Caytlin)Carter, Thomas Daniel Bowman, Breonna Allen, & Amarii Bowman and 7 greatgrandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday. May 10, 2026 from the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witness 1771 GA-77, Union Point, Ga 30669 at 2p

My mom was the kind of person whose love didn't need big speeches or grand gestures. It showed up in the everyday moments, her steady presence, her quiet strength, her belief in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. She taught me how to be kind, how to work hard, and how to keep going when life felt heavy. She didn't just give advice; she lived it. She showed me what resilience looks like, what generosity feels like, and what it means to love without conditions. I will miss her voice, her laughter, her guidance, and the comfort of knowing she was always there. But I carry her with me now in the choices that I make, in the way I treat others, in the parts of me that she shaped. Mom, thank you for every sacrifice, every lesson, every moment of love. Your life was a gift from Jehovah, and your memory will always be a blessing. (Rev 21:4). ♥️ Uriah, Tara & Thomas
