Mr. James Briscoe was born April 30, 1953 to the late Sue Bell Briscoe Walter and Fred Lumpkin in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. He made the transition from labor to reward on October 26, 2024.
James was a native of Oglethorpe County and attended Oglethorpe County Schools. He worked for Buck’s Tire Service in Maxeys, Georgia for several years. Due to his health, he moved to Athens, Georgia in March of 2017 and remained there under the care of his sister until his passing.
Left to mourn his passing are his son: Dwayne Scott Adams of Tifton, Ga., three grandchildren: Dawonta Adams, Sr. and twins De’vontavious and De’uontavious Johnson of Athens, Ga.; one great-grandchild: Dawonta Adams, Jr.; one sister and caregiver: Gloria Briscoe of Athens, Ga. And one brother: Robert Briscoe of Union Point, Ga.; five step-sisters: Alma Dillard of Decatur, Ga., Pearlie M. Jacobs of Madison AL., Janet Walter of Crawford, Ga., Inell Fulton of Greensboro, Ga., and Lois Dalton of Athens, Ga. He also leaves an estranged wife: Toni Adkins Briscoe; two nieces: Tameika Briscoe, Tamara Briscoe; five nephews: Carlos Briscoe, Derek Briscoe, Danny Smith all of Athens, Ga, Robert LeTroy Briscoe of Union Point, Ga and Octavus Briscoe of Atlanta, Ga. And a host of other relatives and friends.
