Jimmy Roger Wright was born September 13, 1940 in Philomath, Georgia, as the fourth of nine children, to the late Ed & Arnell (Young) Wright. He passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. During his early childhood he attended Chestnut Grove school in Philomath, Georgia and later attended the Oglethorpe County Transitional School (OCTS) in Lexington, Georgia
After attending school, he went to work at the Argo Sawmill in Lexington, Georgia. He worked there until he moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1965. He began working for Beers Construction Company and worked there for 28 years until he retired in 2003.
On February 16, 1966, Jim married his wife of 54 years Annie M. (Bankston) Wright. Their union was blessed with two children: Petronia and Kedrin.
Jim, as he was affectionally called, lived his life full of laughter and joy. He had an immense love for his two grandchildren Kiley and Chris. He was a people lover who never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. He also loved going to church and joined the Old Springhill Baptist Church at an early age and also attended Evergreen Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia until his health began to fail him.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Annie Nell Wright. Ed Lee Wright, Ola Mae (Wright) Collins and Prince Albert Wright.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife Annie M. (Bankston) Wright; his daughter Petronia D. Wright (PJ); his son Kedrin B. Wright (Nard) and two grandchildren Kiley L. Wright and Christian D. Daniels all of Decatur, Georgia. His siblings: Hattie Pearl Bankston (Robert Lewis}, Rayle, GA., Willie Dell (Wright) Johnson, Washington DC., Jessie Curtis Wright (Louise), Rayle, GA., and Booker T. Wright (Liia), Athens, GA.; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Graveside will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 from the Springhill Baptist Church, Philomath, GA.
