Mr. Jerry H. Lawrence was born on August 27, 1949, in Greensboro, Georgia to the late Mr. John Lawrence and Mamie Hunter Lawrence.
Jerry met and married Minnie Lee Thomas in 1974 and lived happily until her demise in 2016. Known affectionally as “Uncle Jerry or “Hicks”, he received an education in Greene County Public School System. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior early on in his life.
He enjoyed working outdoors, watching Westerns, Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons. Whenever an opportunity came, he enjoyed making others laugh, as well as sharing his profound wisdom on life, encouraging peace and love among others.
Jerry was a dedicated and hard worker at Georgia Pacific and retired after 38 years of service. He was well respected by all who knew him. Jerry was a very kind, respectful and humorous person and would be greatly missed by many. He was an awesome provider for many years and an outstanding father to his daughters Vernika Lawrence and Jarquetta Lawrence.
He had three brothers, and three sisters that preceded him in death: Mr. Charles Lawrence, Mr. Corneilus Lawrence and Mr. James Lawrence. Sisters: Mrs. Hattie Saunders, Ms. Celestine Lawrence and Ms. Delores Lawrence.
He is survived by his daughters Vernika “Nika” Lawrence of Houston, Texas and Jarquetta “Kion” Lawrence of Atlanta, Georgia. His special fur buddy “Honey”. Brothers, Mr. John (Jessie) Lawrence of Greensboro, Georgia and Mr. Willie Lawrence of Atlanta, Georgia. Sisters, Mrs. Susie Gresham of Far Rockaway of New York and Mrs. Marie Marcus of East Point Georgia. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Eula Thomas Green of Buena Vista, Georgia, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Green Robertson of Buena Vista, Georgia and three brothers in law: Mr. Henry Thomas of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mr. Larry (Sabina) Thomas of Frankfort Germany and Mr. William (Vicki) Green of Buena Vista, Georgia, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
