Obituary For Johnny J. Heath

Johnnie Heath Jr. was born to the late Hattie Mae Meadows-Heath and John Henry Heath on February 27, 1944 in Crawfordville, Ga. He was the 5th child of 8 children that would come from their union. As a young man he studied at Taliferro County Public Schools. From a young age Johnnie accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized later becoming an active Deacon in the church.

Deacon Heath proudly served on the Deacon Board at Randolph Baptist Church for many years. He took pride in serving as the treasurer and Sunday School Superintendent during his tenure. Johnnie was also a proud and active member of the Prince Hall Mason group Greensboro Lodge #223.

Johnnie was a faithful employee of Chipman Union until its closure. He then sought employment with Walmart in Madison, Ga where he worked until retirement. When not working Johnnie made a habit of never sitting still for quite too long. and kept busy tending his 3 gardens, hunting avidly, and fishing with his wife as it was their favorite pastime together.

Johnnie was united in Holy matrimony to Mrs. Lelia Heath on September 10, 1966. He leaves to cherish his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Lelia Heath, his sister Eula (Bobby) Thomas, his 2 daughters Demetrice Brown and Lisa Champion Hill, and his son Johnny (Elethea) Heath. He affectionately extended his village of love to and fatherhood to his nephew DeMario Davis, his niece Katrina Fulton, and granddaughter Alisha (Kazmiael) Cobb. He leaves behind his 8 grandchildren Alisha (Kazmiael) Cobb, Allison Willis, Quarnequal (Gary) St. Louis, Quantarius Brown, Marquis (Chelsea) Heath, Jasmine Heath, Quelia Jordan, and Tae Jordan who affectionately nicknamed him "Papa" and a host of great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his beloved daughter Hattie Mae Heath Willis, his brothers S.T., Henry. Tommy, and Alvin Heath and his sister Catherine L. Fanning. He also leaves behind his best friend Albert "Lee" Randolph who was like a brother to him and his sister-in-law Thelma Briscoe who graciously served as one of his caretakers as his health began to decline.
