On January 1, 1964, in White Plains, Georgia, Perry Lee Cobb and the late Ruby Nell Cobb welcomed their fourth child, Keith Venson Cobb. On March 30, 2024, God called him home, and he departed this earth at Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, Georgia.
Keith was educated in the Greene County School system, graduating in 1982 from Greene-Taliaferro Comprehensive High School. Keith began his working career at Harrison Poultry and later pursued a career in truck driving in 1991. He would tell his children, “I am just an old country boy who has traveled the world.” He was known in the trucking world as “Keith Sweat.” The shipping managers at Norbord in Cordele, GA described him as very kind with a gentle heart and concern for others.
Keith joined Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He rededicated his life to Christ in April 2023.
When Keith was given his diagnosis, he never let the news get him down. Each night, he and his brother Ray would read the bible and pray. He always had a positive attitude and was always grateful for what every person did for him.
His mom raised him and his siblings to always be there for each other, and his family did just that.
Keith was united in holy matrimony to Janice Robbins on July 7, 1984, and to this union two children were born.
Keith leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife Janice Cobb; two daughters Keesha (Shawn) Jernigan of White Plains, GA and Kimberly (Lorenzo) Bush of Athens, GA; one son Jartavious Johnson of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren Shawntavia Jernigan, “his shade tree” as he affectionate called her, Shawn Jernigan Jr., Keshawn Jernigan and Lartavious Johnson; his father Perry Lee Cobb of White Plains, GA; one sister Bernice Cobb Smith of Athens, GA; four brothers Rennis Cobb Sr. and Stacey Cobb Sr. of White Plains, GA, Terry Cobb Sr. of Athens, GA and Raymond (Velicia) Cobb of Greensboro, GA; Mother-in-law Claudia Holland of Greensboro, Ga; two brothers-in-law Michael Robbins of Greensboro, GA, Leroy Holland III of Atlanta, GA; two uncles Roosevelt (Dorothy Mae) Cobb of Sparta, GA and Frank Cobb of Grand Rapid, MI; two aunts Sarah Robbins of White Plains, GA and Magertha Cobb of Sparta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In the last year of his life, he was grateful for his family, who took care of him and called to check up on him every day and his son-in-law GA Boy (Shawn) who he could always depend on.
