Lawyer Mae Mason was the youngest of two children born to Lawyer Parks Senior and Odessa Leslie Parks. On January 20th, 2024, she was called into heaven to finish the work that was not completed on earth.
Lawyer Mae was born on May 8, 1925, in Greensboro, Georgia. She had one sister Ella Ruth who preceded her in death.
Lawyer accepted Christ at the early age of seven and was very active in church even at that young age. At the age of eighteen Lawyer was named the church clerk and has remained active in church throughout the years.
Lawyer Mae received her elementary education at Flat Rock Baptist Church School. She graduated from Springfield Agricultural & Industrial High School in 1943, in Hancock County. After graduation, she took a course in Psychology at Georgia State College. In the fall of 1943, Lawyer moved to New York City where she graduated from Amityville Beauty School with her cosmetology license and pursued that career for three years. After leaving Cosmetology, Lawyer began her second career at New York Telephone Company in 1956 as a clerk and held that position for eleven years. In 1961, she married Holland Lee Mason who preceded her in death. Lawyer Mae was always a go-getter who strived for the best and was promoted to supervisor in a short period of time which allowed her to further her education in Psychology and Business administration. After twenty-five years with the company, Lawyer retired in 1985, but continued working by starting a clothing business where she stayed active until her health started failing. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener. In 2019 Lawyer, because of her health returned home to Greensboro, Georgia where she lived with family, then ultimately to Florence, South Carolina, her last move where she lived with her God daughter until her passing.
Lawyer attended and was a member of Sweet Rest Baptist Church in Jamaica Queens, New York until she relocated back to Greensboro Georgia.
Lawyer Mae had no children of her own but claimed everyone else's. Lawyer leaves to cherish her memories three loving great nieces who cared for her on her return home, three great nephews, three God daughters (two from Greensboro and one from Florence, a Godson from Queens, NY., and a host of other family and friends in New York and across the seaboard, as well as a loving caregiver who will miss her kindness and generosity through the years.
