Obituary For Lester Alexander

Lester Alexander was born Wednesday, January 20, 1943 to the late Mary Ethel Alexander & Floyd Evans in White Plains, Georgia. Lester made his transition into eternity on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. A man of purpose left with purpose for purpose on purpose. He was the fourth of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two of his brothers, Julius & Sammy Alexander. He received his formal education in the Greene County Public School System in Georgia.

Lester met the love of his life, Minnie Lee Thomas, while they were children. In 1967, they were joined in holy matrimony. On the same day they were married, they left the state of Georgia and moved to Chicago, Illinois, where their new life as husband and wife would begin. To this union was born two amazing children, Reginald & Tracey. Chicago is where he would thrive as a husband, father, provider, pastor, teacher, mentor, and friend.

As a young man, Lester gave his life to the Lord. In 1972, under the leadership of the predeceased Pastor William McKinley Eaddy, Pastor Alexander invited the Lord into his life and was saved, sanctified, and filled with the holy ghost. It was at the People's Temple Church of God in Christ where Pastor Alexander would serve faithfully and willingly for 12 years.

After the demise of Pastor William Eaddy in 1979, Lester would serve with Pastor Michael Eaddy, who then became pastor of People's Church of God in Christ. From 1979 to 1984 Pastor Alexander held numerous offices such as deacon, minister, trustee, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and District Sunday School superintendent of the Fellowship District. The late Bishop Louis Henry Ford was the Jurisdictional Prelate and Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ worldwide during Pastor Alexander's service tenure in Chicago.

It is no strange occurrence that the Lord would call Lester Alexander into the pastoral ministry. In 1984, the Lord anointed Pastor Alexander to birth the God's Love Church of God in Christ located at 700 N. Lockwood in Chicago, Illinois. He served the people of his community, teaching and preaching the word of God for 17 years. After he retired the ministry, he took his family back to its humble beginnings in Georgia. There, he would continue spreading the good news of Jesus Christ for 13 more years, totalling 30 years of pastoral leadership.

After becoming Pastor Emeritus, he founded a window washing service called Duke Window Washing named after his grandson whom he loved with all his heart. After 7 years of entrepreneurship, he would also have to retire his business in 2015.

Pastor Lester Alexander was known as a Man of God who hid God's word in his heart and lived by it daily. He was a Praying Man who sought the face of God. He was a Student of God who studied the word of God and taught it with clarity & simplicity. He was a Mentor, Spiritual Advisor, and Lover of HIS FAMILY. Despite the many accolades, these are the attributes he wanted to be REMEMBERED by the most.

A gentle giant, who loved unconditionally, leaves to cherish his memories his wife of more than 50 years, Mother Minnie Alexander of Greensboro, GA; his two children, Reginald D. Alexander also of Greensboro, GA and his daughter Tracey Alexander-Burton (Henry J.) of Conyers, GA; his only grandchild, Officer D'Reginald L. Alexander of the Dallas Police Department in Dallas, TX; 6 siblings – Howard Alexander of Decatur, GA; S.M. Alexander (Willie Mae) of White Plains, GA, Bonnie Mae Smith of Union Point, GA, Robert Lee Alexander (Angela) and Inez Wilson both of Athens, GA, and Millard Alexander of White Plains, GA. Pastor Alexander leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family members.
