Obituary For Lula Mae Turner

Ms. Lula Mae Turner peacefully entered her eternal rest on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Union Point, GA.

Born on August 7, 1949, in Taliaferro County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Mr. Guy Frank Turner and the late Mrs. Bertha Richardson Turner of Union Point, GA.

Ms. Turner accepted Christ at a young age, dedicating her life to serving New Salem Baptist Church in Washington, GA. Under the guidance of the late Pastor R.L. Reynolds and later Pastor C.M. Hawkins, she served faithfully on the Usher Board for many years and later as a mother on the Mother Board. In recognition of her unwavering devotion, her church family honored her as 'Mother of the Year' on May 12, 2018. Her love for her church family remained steadfast, even as her health began to decline.

Known for her sweetness and loving nature, Ms. Turner was a light to all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and caregiver—an unshakeable source of strength for her family, especially her daughter and granddaughter. Her life was a beautiful blessing, and we are eternally grateful for the gift of her loving spirit.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ms. Nancy L. Turner of Union Point, GA, her granddaughter, Miss Tionna Ashanee Thornton of Augusta, GA, her sister, Mrs. Christine Thomas of Union Point, GA, her brother, Mr. Johnny (Cindy) Turner of Atlanta, GA, her brother-in-law, Mr. Alphonso Burgess, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Ann Turner, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Mrs. Mary Shivers, Mrs. Essie Daniel, Mrs. Daisy Sue Chester, Mrs. Elva Burgess, Mr. Willie Turner, Mr. Robert Turner, and Mr. Charlie Turner.

Services: Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm from New Salem Baptist Church, Washington, Ga. 30673 with Pastor C. M. Hawkins, Officiating
