Mrs. Mary Lee Greene Taylor was born August 17, 1937 in White Plains, Georgia to Miss Lelia Brown and Mr. Thornton. After her mother’s death she was raised by her maternal grandparents Governor and Marie Brown.
She attended the public schools of Greene County which she was very smart.
Mary moved to New York shortly after graduating from High School. Mary became a buyer for many markets: Macy’s, J C Penney, and many other stores. Mary cared for her younger sister Addie for many years and also her grandmother Marie Brown. Mary was a very fancy and beautiful dresser. Mary was given the best of care by Dr. and Mrs. Edmondson and James Edmondson, jr. at home in Decatur and the personal care home in McDonough, Ga. She was very happy before her passing after speaking to all of her friends and family. Mary was loved and adored by her best friend Faith Yvonne Hemphill of at least 75 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leila Brown, her sister Addie L. Brown and brother David Thornton Sr.
She leaves to mourn her devoted family members: Dr. Julius Edmondson, Sr., James Edmondson, Jr., Ronald Edmondson; stepbrother and step sister on her father’s side of the family and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary was a very loving and sweet person.
Services: Saturday, April 5, 2025 from the New Jerusalem Outreach Ministries Church, Lithonia GA at 11am with Rev. J. Edmondson, Eulogist.

I am a family member and my mom always talked about her family. We both attended her sister's Service at Watts Chapel. Now both are at rest at our Church, New Springfield Baptist church. Family is love.
Mary was a very caring, kind and beautiful person. She said what she meant and she meant what she said. She was not a phony, fake or two faced person. Mary has earned her wings in heaven and she will be truly missed. Love you Mary but "GOD" loves you more. Sharon White
