Mary Lee Gouch, lovingly known for her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit, passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Mary was born on January 18, 1940, in Roanoke, Alabama, to the late John Potts and S.L Potts Roundtree. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Gouch, and 4 siblings: Eulene Hunter, Elizabeth Pittman, Janie Pearl Gates, and Johnny Potts.

She was married to the love of her life, John Gouch, for 39 years. Together they built a life centered on their love for Jehovah and their family. She was a faithful and supportive partner as John served for many years as an elder in the congregation, and together they set a beautiful example of devotion and unity.

She is survived by her 4 children: Gail (Eddie) Brantley, Tony Gouch, James (Ellen) Gouch, and Dolphin (Glenda) Gouch; 2 sisters, Linda Holloway and Brenda (Joe) Dukes; 6 grandchildren: Fallon Beckhom, Rashard Beckhom, Zyniell, Zachary, Melanie, and Zoee; 5 great-grandchildren: Toureia Holcomb, Mark Scarlet, Monique Scarlet, Jazaryia Beckhom, and Samaria Beckhom; her beloved aunt, Mildred Ridley; a host of nieces and nephews including Sharon Brown, Willie Potts, Lillie Hill, Shemetrius Curry, Chandice Potts, Annica Potts, Joel Dukes, and Jessica Holloway, along with many other relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

She was a successful business owner and talented florist, proudly running “Flowers by Mary” for over two decades. Her work reflected both her creativity and her desire to bring comfort and happiness to others.

Mary had a love for life that showed in everything she did. She enjoyed shopping, traveling the world, and sharing good food with those she loved. Known for her outgoing personality, she truly never met a stranger. She was generous, full of laughter, and brought joy wherever she went. Her presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 4, 1974, Her faith and love for Jehovah remained a guiding force throughout her life, giving her strength, hope, and a deep love for others. One of the many ways this love was expressed was through her faithful service as a pioneer for over 37 years, helping many come to know and love Jehovah. She found great comfort in the Bible’s promise at John 5:28, 29, which assures us that “the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” This hope of the resurrection brought her peace and continues to comfort her family. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
