Nathaniel Walker
November 10, 1952 - May 15, 2022
Nathaniel “Nate” Walker was born November 10, 1952 in Crawfordville, GA to Clarence Walker Sr. and Thelma Moore Walker. He later moved to Greene County, GA in 1974. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Brothers: Ricky Walker, Julius Walker, Clarence Walker, Jr., Willie James Smith, and Sisters: Sylvia Walker, and Dianne Walker Dunn (JP).
Nathaniel worked in the pulpwood industry, manufacturing industry, retail (Dollar General Union Point), and was once a business owner; he retired from Novelis in 2017. He absolutely loved having supervisory positions.
Nathaniel, who nicknamed himself “Nate da Great”, was a man of strength and integrity. Whenever asked how he felt, his known saying was “I feel alright”. He loved watching old movies, wrestling, and boxing. He also loved traveling and socializing.
Nate is survived by his wife Reverend Rosemary Burdette Walker of almost 20 years; therefore, their family was surely a blended one. He is the father to Pernell Walker, Nathaniel “Tony” Walker [Child: Armoni Walker], Mckissha Walker-Bering (Vince) [Children: Larique Walker and Makailah Bering] all of Villa Rica, GA, and Jasmine Hill of Greensboro, GA. He is the stepfather to Terrence Jernigan [Children: Maddux Jernigan-Shatelrow and Ella Jernigan] of Mableton, GA, Shetia Bowman [Children: Desmond Lewis and Vraille Hudson] of Athens, GA, Kevin Pope, Jr. (Kasheena) [Children: Justin Farley, Kameria Pope, Kamaurian Pope, Kamiyah Pope, Kamryn Pope] of Winder, GA, and Tiffany Haynes [Children: August Haynes, Tilanna Haynes, and Brilliant Brown] of Union Point, GA.
Nieces: Denise Walker of Union Point, GA, and Jackie Walker of Sparta, GA. Nephew: Carlos Dunn of White Plains, GA. Three special cousins: Lester Jones of Crawfordville, GA; Lenzy Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Danny Jones of Detroit, Michigan.
Sister-in-laws: Annie Peek (Johnny)[Deceased], Ruby Lynch (Clarence) [Deceased], and Lillie Jones (John) of Union Point, GA.
Brother-in-laws: Richard Burdette [Deceased], Willie C. Burdette (Mosella) of College Park, GA, James Burdette (Lois), Willie Clyde Burdette (Linda), Deleon Burdette, Jimmy Burdette, Jesse Burdette (Frances) all of Union Point, GA, and Edward Burdette (Jennifer) of Covington, GA.
By many more family members and friends that are too great in number to mention, Nate was certainly loved.
Nate was a fighter and kept his strength to the end. There is comfort in knowing “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. He will truly be missed.
