Obituary for Reginald Tobias “Randy” Pinkney

May 27, 1958 – May 13, 2025

Reginald Tobias Pinkney, affectionately known to family, friends, and the community as “Randy,” peacefully transitioned from this life on May 13, 2025, at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, Georgia.

Born a twin and the eldest of four children on May 27, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Homer Pinkney and Dorothy Greene, Randy was raised in Greensboro, Georgia, where he attended Greene County School System and actively participated in school sports. Following graduation, he entered the manufacturing workforce, where he dedicated over 30 years of hard work before retiring with pride.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Homer Pinkney; loving stepfather, John L. Greene Sr.; his brother, John L. Greene Jr.; and nephew, Rodney L. Pinkney Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Dorothy W. Greene and stepmom, Sarah Pinkney; his siblings, twin brother, Rodney “Roy” Pinkney (Jackie), sister, She L. Robinson, brother, Kenneth Pinkney (Rhonda), and sister, Ann Pinkney Dixon (Howard); his daughters, Teneisha Pinkney, Keneisa Hall, and Jaquana Pinkney; grandchildren, Troy Jr., Demarien, Trinity, and Kennedi; nieces and nephews Doobie, Cee Cee, Que, London, Star, and India; great-nieces and nephews Kaidence, Chance, Empress, Essence, Jahsai, and Royalty. He also leaves behind his devoted companion and friend, Thelma Briscoe; his aunts Reecie, Connie, Betty and Wanda who loved him like their own; a host of cousins raised as siblings; and many loyal, lifelong friends and neighbors who became extended family.

Randy was known for his love of Friday night football, family gatherings, and social events. He truly loved life and was the life of every party. His infectious laughter, unforgettable stories, and magnetic energy made him the heart of every room he entered.

Randy accepted Christ at an early age and joined his home church, Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church. Later in life, he continued his spiritual walk by joining the Usher Board at Randolph Baptist Church in Union Point, Georgia.

But above all, he was best known for his unwavering love for his children and grandchildren. Whether telling a story, playing a game, or cheering from the sidelines, Randy brought warmth, joy, and laughter wherever he went. His presence lit up every

room and every heart.

Services to honor his life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church, 3171 Carey Station Rd., Greensboro, GA. A public viewing will take place on Friday, May 23, from 1–7 PM at Watts Funeral Home, 1005 Dolvin Ave., Union Point, GA. Following the viewing, the family will gather from 4–8 PM at the home of his daughter, Teneisha Pinkney, 1161 Country Club Dr., Union Point, GA.

Though Randy’s physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.
