J.T. Curtis Woodruff was born March 27th, 1948 to the late Mrs. Mammie Rhodes Woodruff and Mr. William Henry Woodruff in White Plains, GA.
Curtis received his education in Greene County where he graduated from F.T. Corry High School with the class of 1966. He became a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church and his relationship with Christ began early in life. To many, Curtis was “Dank” and was known for his commitment to his church and his service within his community. He loved helping people and held a strong work ethic not just for himself but for others as well. Curtis found joy helping others find jobs and took it upon himself to ensure they had transportation to and from those jobs. Above all, he loved Christ and the work he was called to do within his walk with Christ. Curtis was committed to spreading the gospel through his teaching and living. It was not uncommon for him to provide transportation to church, visit others in hospitals and nursing homes; it was his mission for people to know they were loved. Curtis was ordained as a minister in the gospel. He was passionate about delivering the gospel and did so in such a way that made it relatable, understandable, and sometimes with a hint of laughter. He certainly had a unique way of making you laugh.
Curtis married Mrs. Bertha Gibbs Woodruff on February 18th, 1969 and two boys were born to their union. Keith and his older brother who both preceded him in passing. In addition, two sisters, Velma (Waymon) Goings and Ollie (Bobby) Haynes, eight brothers, Willie (Mildred) Woodruff, Marvin (Lillian) Woodruff, Lee (Lily) Woodruff, James Edward (Peggy) Woodruff, John Henry (Vera) Woodruff, Charles (Daisy) Woodruff, David (Barbara) Woodruff, and Lorenzo (Ruby) Woodruff preceded him in passing.
Curtis is survived by his wife Bertha, his brother, Columbus “Boot-Tee” (Elizabeth) Woodruff and Godson, Joshua Brown.
