Rose Marie Conyers was born on December 8, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late LeRoy and Geneva Cusic. The youngest of eight siblings, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her pilgrim journey. She was proceeded in death by her Parents LeRoy and Geneva Cusic, her Sister Ruby Wilson, her Brothers LeRoy Cusic Jr. (Dorothy), Randolph Cusic, Ollie Bruce Cusic (Gloria), Cedric Cusic, Donahue (Donnie) Cusic (Rosetta) and The Love Her LIFE, Reverend Phillip Conyers Jr.

In the Spring Season of her Life . . . Rose’s years of education were in Chicago where she attended Carter Elementary School and Englewood High School. After graduating High School, Rose worked in the health field throughout her life. During her early adult years, she was employed as a Hospital Administrator at Hyde Park Hospital where she met the love of her life, Phillip Conyers Jr. Rose has always had an ardent love for the church along with Phillip. She was a Member of Park Manor Christian Church in Chicago until leaving for Oak Hills Christian Church (DOC) in Butler, Pennsylvania in 1999. Phillip and Rose spent 12 ½ very fruitful years there until Phillip retired in June, 2012. There she met some of the most wonderful people within the Church family and also while working in the healthcare field again.

In her Summer Season journey . . . On December 14, 1974, Rose Marie Cusic and Phillip Conyers Jr. were united in marriage. Through their union they joined two families together bringing three brothers together, Richard F. Conyers, David D. Conyers, and Phillip Bernard Conyers who precedes her in death. God also blessed them with a son, JeRoyd P. Conyers of Butler, Pennsylvania. Rose spent many years loving, nurturing, encouraging and supporting her family and friends. She was a natural bridge builder, making sure there would be safe passage over the pitfalls of life for those coming behind her. Rose had an infectious smile that would light up a room as soon as she stepped in. Her swiftness and smooth ability to woo you often turned out to be her weapon against hate, especially on the Bid Wiz table.

In her Fall Season . . . In 1999 Rose became the First Lady of Oak Hills Christian Church (DOC) in Butler, Pennsylvania while Reverend Phillip Conyers Jr. served as the Senior Pastor. Making history as the First and Only African American First Lady for Oak Hills Christian Church (DOC), Rose was a very active Disciple of Christ. In June 2012, Phillip and Rose both retired, leaving a Legacy to always be remembered, and moved to Covington, Georgia until the end of their lives.

In her Winter Season and Close . . . For the last few years Rose has valiantly fought her serious health battles and cared for Phillip until his Passing. Rose never gave up hope and kept her Faith in GOD while grieving the loss of husband, Rev. Phillip Conyers Jr. on June 8, 2020. She modeled a resounding message for all, “Don’t Ever Quit” and “KEEP YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST and EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT.” Rose was a Christian Soldier from the Beginning to the End of her Earthly life and now The Beginning of brand new life which began on May 30, 2021 at 9:23 p.m.

At the End of Her Earthly Journey . . . Rose leaves to cherish her memory, three sons Richard F. Conyers (Keisha) of Douglasville, Georgia, David D. Conyers (Robin) of Killeen, Texas and JeRoyd P. Conyers of Butler, Pennsylvania; 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Her oldest Sister, Geraldine Barnes of Chicago, Illinois, three Brother-in-laws, Donald (Uncle Jackie) Wilson of Chicago, Illinois, John Conyers (Earlina) of Mobile, Alabama and Ralph Conyers of Kokomo, Indiana; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, Special Friend, Mrs. Sandra Todd, Beverly Miller, Cora Gholston, and many others of her beloved Church families. A Special Thank you to Cindy Marie Wilson, Lenora Sims, Helen Kelley, Ann Wilburn, Ruthie Mae Ivory, Robin Shavonne Conyers, Joya Nicole Conyers and Karen Todd, we could not have made it without you. Rose’s circle of light was so wide she embraced many outside of her immediate family, from whom her love was so strong they were welcomed into her family.
