Obituary For Thomas Lovia Brown

Thomas Lovia Brown was born January 9th, 1934 in Greensboro, GA to Thomas Otis Brown and Myrtis C. Brown. His deep passion for learning led him to graduate from Morehouse College, Chicago Teacher’s College, and Cornell University earning his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in education with a minor in Psychology. He was an Army Veteran and became an educator. Spearheading diversity programs at the Board of Education and advocating for those in his community, Thomas enjoyed using his voice for good. An avid traveler, he’d been to almost every continent, collecting artifacts, and attempting new languages. He passed away of natural causes in Union Point, GA on August 15th, 2026.

He is preceded by his parents, his brothers: Wallace Brown and David Brown, and his granddaughter Janice Brown. He leaves behind his three children: Mark Brown, Scott C. Brown, and Mia Brown, his siblings: Otis Brown and Vera Brown-Simmons, his eight grandchildren: Mark A. Lewis, Brandon Brown, Bryce Brown, Kareema Brown, Allison T. Paulino, Cierra Mayo, Danielle Chandler, and Terryl Chandler Jr., other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services were Saturday, September 12, 2026 from Watts Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m.
