Mr. Tommy Lee Smith was born September 10, 1948 in Greensboro, Ga., to the late Lula B. and Kenneth (K. C.) Clyde Smith. He was the 2nd child of 8 children.
He enjoyed giving help to others, telling jokes daily, going to family gatherings and working.
Mr. Tommy Lee Smith joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. When he got older, he joined Shiloh Baptist in Athens, Ga., where he resided for over 40 years. A portion of those years he worked for the University of Georgia, while the other 20 years he retired from the Clarke County Courthouse as a janitor.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Lula B. and Kenneth (KC) Smith, his wife Mamie Lee Smith, brother K. C. Smith, and daughter Tammy Smith.
He is survived by two daughters: Tomich Smith of Lexington, Ga. and Lashay Burke of Athens, Ga. and a son Tommy Smith, Jr. of Athens, Ga.; two sisters Julie Brown of Greensboro, Ga. and Lula Kendricks of Athens, Ga.; four brothers: Loyd Smith, Lewis Smith and Gary Smith of Greensboro, Ga. and Kenny (Nellie) Smith of Athens, Ga. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
