Tyya J. Peeks, born on February 1, 2004. She was a fierce, funny, and unforgettable presence, whose brilliant light was dimmed unexpectedly on November 12, 2025, at the age of 21. Tyya lived a life defined by surprising contradictions, evident through her magnetic energy and her passion for cleanliness, which was tenderly complemented by her genuine love for small children. She received her education from Greene County School System and has an Associate’s Degree from Georgia Military College.
To know Tyya was to experience her fully; her arrival was always announced, not by a knock, but by her hurricane-like energy, a swirling, vibrant presence that demanded your attention. Tyya was, by all accounts, perfectly spoiled and unapologetically bratty—a fact she embraced with a wide smile and a twinkle in her eye. She had a way of charming everyone into making what she wanted, but no one was more instrumental in fostering her spirited demands than her beloved grandparents. She shared an unbreakable, deeply loving, and hilarious bond with her maternal grandmother, Mattie Peek, and her late maternal grandfather, Julius “Poppa” Peek.
It was Poppa who made Tyya think eating out was a necessity due to their every morning visits to Waffle House for breakfast, and Grandma Mattie who nurtured Tyya’s love of cleanliness that she generally enforced on the rest of the family. And above all, Tyya carried her grandparents’ support as a badge of honor while embracing the comfort their love gave her. Tyya’s bold spirit was evident early on, transforming from a spirited, dirt-kicking tomboy in elementary school to a beloved cheerleader in high school. Beneath her spunky exterior and bold personality resided the soul of a woman twice her age that added light and comedic relief to our lives. Her true joy, however, was found in the company of small children. She had a natural, gentle connection with them, whether teaching a toddler to snap their fingers or patiently reading a story, hinting at a future she was destined to share with little ones. She is now reunited with her adoring maternal grandfather, Julius “Poppa” Peek, and paternal grandfather, McArthur Evans.
Tyya is survived by her devoted mother, LaTasha Peeks; her loving father, Tony Evans; and maternal grandmother, Mattie Peek, paternal grandmother, Lovie Evans; and siblings, Alexis, Treyveon, Tiona, Alicia, Tamia and Jasmine. Doting aunts and uncles: Lethia Peeks-Walker, Micheal Peek, Jason (Katrina) Peek, Dexterson (Marshell) Peek; Patricia (Dennis) Chaney, Susie (Ira) Gresham, Carolyn Evans, Mary Evans, McArthur (Linda) Evans Jr., Teresa (Leon) Rucker, Robert (Lanica) Evans, and Charlie Evans; as well as loyal and caring cousins, and countless friends whom she treated like family.
