A native of Greene County, Georgia, Willie Collins affectionately known as “Cloot” came into the world February 16, 1945 to the late Speed Collins and Annie Mae Brown Collins. After 79 wonderful years of life, he fell asleep on Wednesday January 8, 2025 after a brief illness.
Willie received his formal education in the Greene County School System graduating from F. T. Corry High School. After graduation, Bro. Collins decided to pursue the Culinary Profession. He worked in the School System and several restaurants in Greensboro and Lake Oconee.
He took pride in his profession, the fact that he could prepare most any meal and cook any kind of cake from “Red Velvet” to a “Coconut Cream Cake.” Remarking, “I’m not bragging: but it’s a poor dog that won’t wag it’s own tail.” He enjoyed being with friends going out to eat, talking to people about God and that he loved Jehovah. He had a love for people and a caring attitude, as well as a pleasant conversation at all times. He never met a stranger. The word stranger was not in his vocabulary.
The highlight of his life started about fifteen years ago when he got serious about studying God’s word the bible, learning what Jehovah God required of him. He made many changes – a “360”- progressing to the point of dedicating his life to the true God, Jehovah and symbolizing his dedication by water Baptism on July 18, 2014.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five sisters: Sadie Mae, Laura Ann, Doris, Louise, and Elizabeth and one brother Darrell.
He leaves to cherish two sisters Darlene and Linda; five brothers Flenard, Leonard, Freddie, Bobby and Terry; some of his nephews are Willie Lee, Alton, Nathan, Myron, Timothy, Rodrick, & Anthony; special nieces Denise & Talisha and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
