Public Visitation will be 12noon -6pm Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in the chapel of West Gadsden Funeral Home.
Celebration of life will be 11am Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Galilee Baptist Church 904 S 16th St. Gadsden, AL 35901. Burial Alabama National Cemetery, 11am Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The Obituary
Aaron Hoyett, was born on October 15 , 1948 to the proud parents of Scott Columbus Hoyett
and Lateria Mae (Thomas) Hoyett in Gadsden, AL. He was the eldest of seven children born to
this union.
Aaron confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Galilee Baptist Church under the
leadership of the late E. W. Jarrett. He received his formal education in the Gadsden Public
Schools and attended Carver High School where he graduated in 1966. On May 14, 1969, he
was drafted into the United States Army where he served until 1971. After which, he served in
the United States Army Reserves until 1989.
In 1975, Aaron and Donnyiece (Elmore) Hoyett were wed and to this union two children were
born (Mia Sabrina and Amy Antionette) and two bonus children were added (Cheryl Taylor and
Jerome (Tara) Taylor. At home, he enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Alabama
Crimson Tide roll to greatness. His biggest boast is being able to bowl an easy 300 and he was
the ping pong king at the Valley Street fieldhouse. He also enjoyed pool, barbecuing, and
listening to Gospel Music.
Aaron departed this life, Saturday, April 25, 2026. He is preceeded in death by his devoted
wife, Donnyiece Elmore Hoyett; parents, Scott C. and Lateria Mae Hoyett; his baby brother,
Robert Nelson Hoyett; and his grandson, Gabreon Tairice Coleman.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories; his children: Mia Sabrina Hoyett,
Amy Antoinette Hoyett; his siblings: Abram “Slim” Hoyett, Denise Hoyett Sims, Martha “Lane”
Hoyett, Edith Hoyett Rowser (Stafford), Audrey Hoyett Steward; sister-in-law: Teresa Spears;
grandchildren: Daizhara Hoyett, Rodney Jones, Jr., William L. Jones, Maya Lindsey, Isaiah
Taylor, Kevin Taylor, and Marcus Taylor; great-grandchildren: Kaison J. Baker and Tyson E.
Jones; one aunt: Isabell Hoyett Burton of Kellyton, AL. Aaron will be missed by his veteran
buddies: Mr. Ryan and Mr. Chuck and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives
and many friends.
