The Obituary
Anthony Bernard Vickers (Tony), 66, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
On August 20, 1959, Anthony was born to the late Mrs. Lori Vickers and Preston Vickers
in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Tony was an active member of Handy Chapel A.M.E. Church where he accepted Christ at an early age. He was a steward and active with the Sons of Allen.
A graduate in the Class of 1977, he attended Gadsden High School in the Gadsden School system. He went on to receive a Certificate of Training in Drafting from Gadsden State Community College.
Family and friends came first when it came to enjoying the simple pleasures of life. At the top of his list of favorite things to do were playing cards with his family, having dinners with his family and attending Black and White Balls with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Cassandra Vickers; his nephew, Cory Dupree and his grandparents, Mrs. Annie Smith and Mr. Richard Wise.
Anthony leaves to cherish his beloved family; four brothers, Carey Vickers, Sr., Steven Vickers, Preston (Gail) Vickers and Cedric Reid, all of Gadsden, AL; one sister, Sabrina Reid of Gadsden, AL and one stepsister, Jimmene Reid. Although Tony had no children, he had one special daughter/niece, Sumika Vickers (her kids, Jace Wilson and Aja Ransaw); special nieces, Donika Harris, Cherrelle Vickers, Sheray Bell, Shundrika Clark, Takisha Payne, Denea Vickers and Devora Vickers; special nephews, Broderick King, Trammell Rutledge, Demetrius Jelks, Jr., Jamahl Jelks and Braxton Vickers; special cousins, Carol Lewis, Daryl Lewis and Preston Williams; one Goddaughter, Ean Strickland; one Godbrother, Kevin Veasy; special friends, Ingrid Inky Chacha, Gussie Russell and Terry Yow and a host of other friends and relatives that were dear to him.

Memories of Tony will linger forever. He would frequently stop by Mom's to check on her and always had that gentle spirit! Rest in Heaven Tony!!! Prayers are extended to the family.
