Carl Stephen “Tweet” Jackson

Mr. Carl Stephen Jackson was born on September 10, 1954 to the late Ms. Bessie Mae Jackson
Watts in Gadsden, Alabama. He was affectionately known as “Tweet,” and was educated in the
Gadsden City School System and dedicated 24 years of service to the City of Gadsden before his
health began to decline.

Tweet found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved being surrounded by family and
friends, shooting pool, fishing, and watching sports. A passionate fan, he especially enjoyed
cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Whether celebrating a win or debating a game, Tweet’s enthusiasm was unmatched—he cheered
and smiled as if he were their number one fan.

Known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix things, Tweet remained a source of strength
even as his health declined. From his bed, he continued to offer advice, share laughter, and make
game predictions. He showed those around him that strength is not only physical, it is found in
perseverance, courage, and spirit. He carried all three with grace, leaving behind a powerful
legacy of resilience, hard work, and deep love for his family.

Tweet was the fifth of six children. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae Watts;
two sisters, Barbara Jackson and Linda Jackson; two brothers, Percy Jackson and William Watts;
two uncles, Jim Smith and Jessie Smith; one aunt, Rosetta Smith; his father-in-law and mother-
in-law, Willie James Benson and Maggie Lee Benson; and five sisters-in-law, Sally Malone,
Jeanette Benson, Pricilla Woods, Beatrice Ellis, and Willie Mae Starr.

Tweet departed this life on March 30, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and
devoted wife of 48 years, Joyce Jackson, son Derreus (Tiffany) Jackson, two granddaughters
India Lee and Jayla Jackson, all of Gadsden, AL; sister Virginia Jackson, Gadsden, AL; three
brothers-in-law, Willie James (Brenda) Benson, Akron, OH, Jimmie Lee (Ava) Benson,
Douglasville, GA, Eddie Ellis, Gadsden, AL; sister-in-law Miranda Edwards, Gadsden, AL;
special friends, David Carlisle, Ned Carlisle, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends.

In-Person condolences with the family will be 12:00 noon - 6pm in the chapel.

Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 11, 2026. at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 807 Ave C. Gadsden, Al.35901. Rev. Scottie Rice, Pastor.
