Cora, was born on 09/22/1953 in Altoona, Al, the second of seven children born to the late Sylvester and Bera Cattling, in Etowah county.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended the Etowah County school system and graduated from West End High School in 1971. She went on to further her education at Jefferson Junior College while working full time and received and Associates Degree in History. She had a love of education and taught in the Jefferson County School system for 20 years until she retired. After retiring in 2014, Cora spent her time loving on her husband and mothering her children and grandchildren.
Cora married the love of her life Richard Thomas in March of 1988 whom she loved faithfully. Together they raised their eight children Bea, Richard, Yolanda, Pamela, Clifford, Craig, Jerome and Alicia. A devoted mother and wife and was a faithful member of Believers in Faith Vision Temple in Leeds, Al, and later a serving as Deaconess beside her soul mate as Mother Thomas at the Temple of Hope Church.
Cora was preceded by her father and mother, her husband Richard, and her brother George.
Cora leaves to cherish many wonderful memories. She is survived by her siblings, Annette Coleman, Barbara Culp, Vivian Collins, Sylvester Cattling and Robert Charles Cattling. Her children: Clifford Rasberry lll, Craig Rasberry, Jerome Mathis, Alicia Mathis and Beatrice Thomas, Richard Oliver Thomas Junior, Yolanda Thomas-Williams, Pamela Thomas. A host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, friends and relatives who adored her.
Viewing will be 5P.M-8P.M Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the West Gadsden Funeral Home
Funeral services and internment will be Friday, November 20,2020 at the Alabama National Cemetery (3133 Hwy 119 Montevallo, AL 35115)
