Mother Ella Ruth Turner, 89, of Attalla, AL, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mother Ella Ruth Turner was born on November 22, 1932, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie “Gus” and Pearl Whisenant in Ashville, AL. She obtained her education in the Ashville School System. She enjoyed baking, sewing, watching “Wheel Of Fortune,” and listening to the daily gospel. Some of her favorite sayings were, “You can’t get blood out of a turnip” and more. In her younger years, she enjoyed helping the elderly by working at Ashville Healthcare for 16 years. She then moved to Attalla and worked at McGuffies Nursing Home until she retired. After retirement she enjoyed her remaining years as a missionary and an usher at Overcoming COOLJC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Turner, Sr.; son, Tony Turner; daughter, Vivian T. Bothwell; and grandsons, Jeremy Bradford and Joshua Oliver. She leaves to cherish her many memories to her daughters, Sally V. Bradford, Lillie P. Evans, Alice R. Turner, Arletha Turner, and Rhonda Y. Turner; sons, Sylvester (Lacresha) Turner, Rolando (Kim) Turner, Milton Turner, Austin (Tanya) Turner, Jr., Augustine Turner, Alfonzo (Darlene) Turner, Anthony (Karen) Turner, and Sammy (Carol) Turner; sister, Nancy Davis; in-laws, Elise Mostello (former daughter-in-law), Barbara Turner (former daughter-in-law), and Joseph Oliver (former son-in-law); special friends, Desiree Thomas; sister, Ella Williams; and she is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, October 14, 2022 from 11am-6pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Overcoming Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ at 2:00pm.
