We come together today to celebrate the homegoing of our beloved James Dixon. He was born on December 19, 1947, in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Pearline Stallings-Dixon, his mother, and the late Henry Leroy Dixon, his father. At an early age, he confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. Additionally, James received his formal education through the Gadsden school system where he grew up. He served his country in the military and was honorably discharged. Throughout the years, he held many jobs. However, nothing gave him more personal joy than his love of learning. To fulfill that enjoyment, he would study the dictionary and maps of all kinds.
He had a passion for many things, including cars, sports, and games. James was a helpful and loving person. He spent many of his days taking care of those he loved by washing their cars, cutting the grass, helping in their garden, and doing anything else he thought would be helpful. In addition to these wonderful acts of service, James also held many meaningful conversations with those he loved.
He enjoyed sharing with those around him the things he learned each day and often gave great life advice. James loved his family so much. He lived a simple but fulfilling life because he spent most of his time giving of himself and expecting nothing in return. On January 14, 2023, he accepted God’s gift of eternal life.
His precious memories will be cherished by his sons, Andre (Amanda) Marshall and James Earl Dixon; sisters, Glenda Ford, Gloria Chapman, Janice Dixon, and Stalecia (Vincent) Rolley; brothers, Michael (Alisa) Dixon, Sr., and Stanley Dixon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
