Obituary For Mr. Sherry Lee Carlisle

Mr. Sherry Lee Carlisle, 83, of Gadsden, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He is survived by his loving family. We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.

Mr. Sherry Lee Carlisle, Sr. was the first-born to Mr. & Mrs. Lee Andrew Carlisle on March 26, 1942, in Marion, Alabama (Perry County).

After moving to Gadsden, AL during his early childhood, he received his elementary and secondary education in the Gadsden Public School System. Sherry joined Galilee Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Rev. E.W. Jarrett.

He was employed by Temple Electric, in which he was the first African-American employee of the company. In addition to his employment, Sherry was skillful at building houses, repairing things, and just an overall jack of all trades. Whatever you asked him to do, he was able to do it and was good at it!

Sherry had a kind heart and a gentle spirit. He was a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and whomever he was to anyone that encountered and knew him. He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren.

Sherry traded time for eternity on September 11, 2025. Sherry was preceded in death by parents Lee Andrew and Elnora Carlisle; brothers Lee James Carlisle, Ralph Carlisle, and Elvin Carlisle; and sister Carrie Rebecca King Wilson.

Among those who grieve Sherry’s passing and who will always cherish many loving memories are his devoted wife and caregiver, Larcena Carlisle; sons Sherry Lee Carlisle, Jr. (Angela), Larry Carlisle, Keith Carlisle, Terry Carlisle. Shelton Carlisle; daughters Debbie Carlisle-Sheffield(Mike), Special Daughter Tishalyn Carlisle; special son Tony Maxwell; grandchildren Trevell, Marcus, Kearra, Kyra, Da’jah, Tianna, Jermichael Jr., Zeterrious, Chanze, Damian, Samiya, Zareya, Emazan, Calli; great-grandchild Milani; siblings Nancy Smith, Dorothy Davenport, Geraldine Bradford, Carol Hardy, Rickey (Sheena) Carlisle, and Gwendolyn Nelms; brother-in-law Paul (Gloria) Maxwell; sister-in-law Cathy (Wayne) Thomas, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friend, Mr. John Walker, and many others.
