Mrs. Christie Brock, of Ashville, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Christie Joanna Brock, 54, of Ashville, Al, passed away on July 19,2023 at her home.
She is reunited in Heaven with her sons Cody and O’Neal Brock (Morgan), brother Ronnie Hudgins (Lisa), cousin Pamela Caves, Grandparents Verlie Mae McLin (Mac), Lawrence Hudgins, Lou Gordon and Ernest Gordon.
She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of- husband James Brock, children Britany Gargone (George), Nichole Martin, Michelle Brock, Dakota Brock (Tuesday), siblings Janice Bryant (William), Timothy Hudgins (Samantha), Jacob Hudgins parents Nancy Stephens and Ronald Hudgins, numerous grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
To anyone who truly knew her would describe her as wild and free. Christie was known for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Everyone always knew where you stood with her. She liked you or she didn’t, it was black or white. As her children we are still trying to figure out which one it was for us (we know she loved us).
She was a master cook in the kitchen. She believed in overcooking everything until it chewed like rubber so you would never get sick because all germs would be nuked. Except her lasagna, it was magical.
All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her persistence, wit, charm, crazy sense of humor and undying love and care for them. Her door was always open and everyone was welcome. She believed everyone could be saved and deserved a second chance. Christie had a love of helping others. Let’s not forget her willingness to fight and defend those she loved no matter what.
“My mom was the strongest woman I’ve ever met. She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce Mama Bear. There are stories I can tell you — like the one when I was little and an older kid was picking on me. My mother blew through the door like a tornado. I think that kid is still running from her.” -Michelle
She was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. Christie was happiest surrounded by friends and family, relaxing in her pool with her sweet tea or messing with her flowers.
May the petals teach us the art of letting go. When our hearts ache for her presence, we can look to the sunshine on the water, the giggles of children, the roses blossoming in the spring, and the warmth of unconditional love. Christie will forever be loved and missed.
Honorary pallbearers: Chandler McGinnis, Jamie McGinnis, George Gargone, William Bryant, Jacob Brown, Ronald Hudgins, Kevin Hudgins and Bradley Harris
