Mrs. Nora Underwood, 76, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Monday, September 22,2025.

She is survived by her loving family.

Our beloved wife and mother, Nora Underwood Thompson, aged 76, passed away peacefully at UAB Hospital on September 22, 2025. She was born on November 12, 1948 to the latte Mattie Woods and Howard Davis.

She was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatly High School, Class of 1967. She later graduated from Gadsden State Community College’s Nursing Program in 1986. She retired from Gadsden Health and Rehab Center in 2015. She was a kind, caring, compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.

She will be remembered for her love for God, her love for her family, her love for singing and her sweet spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mattie Woods and Howard Davis; sons Eric Underwood and Jimmy Bush; siblings Bettye Blount, Bertha Douglas and James Chavers and grandson Corian Marshall.

Cherishing her loving memories are her husband Ray Thompson of Gadsden, AL.; daughters Teresa Underwood Jones and Evon Underwood, both of Gadsden, AL.; stepdaughter Kesharra Thompson of Tuscaloosa, AL.; grandchildren Jimia Bush, Eric Holland, Erica Holland, Kyteria Marshall and Blake Holland all of Gadsden, AL., Janiya Bush and JaKasha Bush of Huntsville, AL., Ta’Ron Marshall of Salinas, CA.; great-grandchildren Marleigha Shepherd, Isaiah Moore, Omari Holland, Cordaryl Gary, Calai Holland and Cairo Holland all of Gadsden, AL.; Siblings Allison (Albert) Chambers and Roger (Stephanie) Cooper, both of Atmore, AL., Trisha (Albert) Coleman, Lilly Scott and Eugene (Nina) Marbury all of Childersburg, AL.; nieces Priscilla Blount of Gadsden, AL., Valeria Blount of Childersburg, AL., Chereka Crenshaw, Okeria Chavers, Courtney Gray and Terra Gray of Atmore, AL.; nephews Anthony Blount and Michael Blount of Gadsden, AL., Markies Chambers of Lithonia, GA., Bryant (Charllett) Chambers of Atmore, AL., and Isaiah Watson of Atmore, AL.; also a myriad of great and great-great nieces, nephews, relatives, family members and friends.

Public Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Monday, September 29, 2025 at West Gadsden Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Mission Baptist Church.
