Ms. Jamaya Walker-Whitehead, 24, of Gadsden passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. She is survived by her loving family.

A TIME TO BE BORN: Jamaya N. Walker-Whitehead was born December 14, 2000. to the parents of Tandeneika Y. Walker and Antonial Whitehead in Gadsden, Al.
A TIME TO PLANT: Jamaya dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at First Missionary Baptist Church, Alabama City. She was an active member of the JM Woods youth choir and praise dance team. Jamaya received her primary education in the Gadsden Public School system. She graduated from Gadsden City High School, Class of 2019, where she was a member of the band, MU ALPHA THETA and Beta Club. She attended and was awarded the Boys and Girls scholarship to Gadsden State Community College. She was employed with Summit Group Home.
Her tenacity for her family and friends, the, love, humor, and resilience was never unnoticed. She loved her niece, nephews, and young cousins like her own, they will miss her taking them to the park and McDonald's. Jamaya never met a stranger. She always greeted everyone with kindness, compassion and an infectious smile that brighten the world.
A TIME TO LOVE: Jamaya loved people, her siblings and first cousins. Jamaya would call you and sometimes the conversation was I was just checking on you and "I love you". She was a very special young lady and gifted with this kind heart from a child.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gloria Jean Whitehead.

Public Visitation will be held from 12noon-6pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 at West Gadsden Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at First Baptist Church, Alabama City.

I have fond memories of Jamaya. She always greeted me with a smile and kind words. She had a love for God and was active in the youth and young adult choir and praise team at First Baptist Church. To know her was to love her.
My thoughts and prayers are extended to her family during this time and in the days to come. She will be missed!
