Obituary For Ms. Shirley Ann Baker
Ms. Shirley Ann Baker,77, of Gadsden, AL passed away on May 18, 2023.
Ms. Shirley Ann Baker was born on June 1, 1945 to the late Louis Edwards Jr. and Emma Lou Mitchell in Wetumpka, Alabama.
Shirley joined Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Jolly Turner. She later joined the Mission Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her passing. She loved her church family and she adored her Pastor, Grady E. Robinson Jr.
She attended Carver High School
She was married to Cecil Allen Baker and to this union, five children were born.
Her hobby was fishing and she was good at it.
She worked for years at Spring Valley and from June 1, 1979 to November 1, 2000 she went to work for the City of Gadsden.
Shirley departed this earthly home for her heavenly home on May 18, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Laura Edwards; Father, Louis Edwards Jr.; Mother, Emma Lou Mitchell; Brother, Willie Edwards; Sister, Ophelia Gills.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories to: Her daughters, Parise Baker and Trisha Baker, both of Gadsden, AL; Sons, Barry Baker, Edward (Lilibeth) Baker, and Michael Baker, all of Gadsden, AL; Fourteen grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; Sisters, Mattie Edwards of Birmingham, AL, Sandra Jones of Wetumpka, AL, Rosa Buycks of Greenville, AL, and Peggy (Gregory) Sheppard of Wetumpka, AL; Brothers, Louis Edwards III of Texas, Jerry (Marilyn) Buycks of Mesa, Arizona, Michael (Ella) Buycks of Germany, Bobby Walker of Dayton, OH, and James (Dorothy) Buycks of Prattville, AL: Special cousins, Jocelin Hill and Kimberly Williams and a host of other relatives and friends.
We ask that you please keep this family in your prayers.
Public Viewing will be Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10am-6pm.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Mission Baptist Church at 1:00 pm.
Burial at Lincoln Hill.
