Funeral services will be Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 12:30 p.m., Mt. Sinai M.B. Church, 1900 Bailey Avenue, Jackson, MS 39203 with burial in Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS 39209.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Westhaven the family will greet family and friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Connie Jean Johnson Jones was born January 16, 1940 to the departed James Johnson and Hazel Clay Johnson in Grenada, MS. God was always the guide of Connie’s life. Her relationship and servitude with him commenced at the tender age of seven at Bell Flower Baptist Church, Grenada, MS where she served on the junior usher board. After moving to Jackson, MS, she joined Cherry Grove Baptist Church under Rev. Horace Buckley and Rev. Jesse Redmond. In 1981, Connie united in membership at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church under Rev. A.L. Barnes. Mt. Sinai remained her church home for thirty-eight years where she served as Sunday School Secretary and a member of the A.L. Barnes Celestial Choir. Connie attended Grenada Elementary School from kindergarten to eighth grade. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, TN for grades nine through twelve. After high school she attended Jackson State College for two years and later Hinds Community College where she studied nursing. Connie worked in the nursing field for over forty years. Next to God, Connie’s family was always the corner stone of her life. She was married to the love of her life, Charlie P. Jones, Jr. She was blessed to birth eight children. After her eldest child’s untimely death, Connie adopted and raised her two children. Her husband Charlie P. Jones, Jr., daughter Janice Yvonne Johnson, sons Darrell Mallett, Lenyatta V. Green, and brother Willie Mize all made their earthly transitions prior to Connie. Connie’s memories, life, and legacy will be cherished and celebrated by Pamela Beasley of Jackson, MS; Dr. Valerie (Reza) Hasaniafshar of Baltimore, MD; James (Londa) Mallett of Jackson, MS; Charlie P. Jones, III of Jackson, MS; Deetra (Christopher) Eiland of Terry, MS; Lakisha (Charles) Tate of Brandon, MS; Niya (David) Archie of Jackson, MS; a special cousin who was raised like a brother, Leroy Caffey of Las Vegas, NV; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
